Yesterday I bought a whole lot of manga--why is it everything comes out at the same time? Tsubasa and XXXHolic are getting more and more convoluted by the volume, though I am still quite fond of XXXHolic. Otomen is comic genius as is volume 15 of Kaze Hikaru, where I almost fell off the couch while reading *snicker*. Blackbird is worth buying, though I have to say the story is going a bit slow at the moment (volume 2). Neither Ouran High School Host Club volume 13 nor volume 8 of Wild Ones were particularly great though. But at least I had plenty to read :)
Dad and I also went to see Harry Potter 6 for the 4th time in theaters (it's still playing at the second run theater). Funfun.

Today I made a batch of my mom's mulled cider, and since it is so delightful in the fall and winter I thought I'd share the recipe:

Mulled Cider

Combine the following:

1 quart unsweetened orange juice.
3 cups apple cider
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
1/4 tsp ground Allspice
1/8 tsp ground clove

Serve hot. If you want to be fancy, serve it with a cinnamon stick in the cup. :3

They are now using Edward Cullen to sell Volvos. *facepalm* I just saw a commercial using him as an unofficial spokesperson for the vehicle. I don't know whether to laugh at the ridiculousness of it all or weep in horror.

It's STILL snowing o_0

I've had this song stuck in my head all day, from Repo! The Genetic Opera. It was recommended to me over the summer; I watched some of the songs on Youtube and managed not to have nightmares (it's by the same guy who made the Saw movies...which I can't usually bare to even watch the commercials). It's good, I'd recommend it, but know that it's pretty darn creepy and there is a lot of "surgery" and a lot of gore (though not so much blood, oddly enough). The cast is pretty wicked awesome too...

O_O It's snowing and it isn't even Halloween yet. And snowing hard mind you, big wet flakes that are actually sticking (and weighing down tree branches). Most of the leaves haven't even completely turned. o_0 Hopefully the snow won't freeze and pull down branches and power lines...but it is kinda pretty. :)

...That is, posting random Youtube clips.

I 'm writing this from my new computer (who I have named Fred, like the last one)!!!!!! Squee!!!!! And unlike the last laptop, this one is exclusively mine (the Old Fred was technically a family computer that I ended up monopolizing)! :D :D :D :D And unlike my old laptop, this one has a camera so I'll be able to get skype (assuming I figure out how to use that o_0 Does anyone even use it anymore?).

This isn't to say that I don't miss Old Fred, he was a valiant computer that is currently existing off of borrowed life-support and I'll miss him. :)

My title is: "I come, I read, I sneak away into the shadows" This is because for a long time I never reviewed fanfiction that I read (bad me, I know, but I was really shy and didn't know what to write). Nowadays I do generally review the things I read though...

My friends page is called: "People I know" because at the time it made sense. ^^'

My default userpic: A particularly psychotic Freckle from the comic Lackadaisy. I LOVE his expression, it makes me giggle.

The wonderful computer guy at Dad's workplace (with whom he shares office space) managed to temporarily resuscitate my laptop. :) And my new laptop shipped today! :) Woohoo!

Otherwise, work is getting better and people are nice there.

Now I have a LOT of stuff to catch up on o_0

Having no home computer is driving me nuts! That will be remedied soon though, Dad just ordered my new one today :)

Why is it that when I have tons of computer time on my hands, fanfic authors don't update, but as soon as I don't have access, my favorites all update in bulk? T_T

Gagh! Back to work!

Fred, my laptop, is kinda dying and until I get a new one my only real options for internet access will be at work or if I am able to use my dads computer. So I will probably not be posting much/responding to emails or comments with regularity. Or reading fanfiction T_T

On the recommendation of most of my professors, I'm not going directly into grad school and am going into the workforce in the human services area. So lately I've been looking for jobs.
Well, when it rains it pours. Today I finally got notice that I've gotten a job as a part-time lab manager for a project in the psych department. :D And not an hour later I was at the local mental health institute/facility filling out an application for work as a group leader (it'd be an educational type role). They were having a job fair, and I don't know what I was expecting, but jeez! I walk in and they shove an application in my hands while asking me what kind of work I want and telling me what they have open. Within maybe 15 minutes I had met and briefly talked to the 2 people who I'd be dealing with most and applied. They were extremely helpful if anyone had questions about the application and were very enthusiastic. I know they have major turnover there, so I'm not terribly surprised. Still, coming out I was somewhat disoriented. @_@ Oi...
I hope I get it though. *crosses fingers*

Barbie movies have reached an all new low: A Barbie version of The Three Musketeers. >_< Dumas is rolling in his grave and if I had one I'd probably be doing the same. As it is I think I need some brain bleach.

On a better note, the manga Ooku: The Inner Chambers is really good though I have yet to see anything in the first manga that earned it a "For Mature Audiences Only" rating (rather than Older Teen  or 16+) *shrugs*

This evening I went over to trehktar's house for a "literature evening" in which a group of friends took turns reading poetry and short stories while drinking tea. Very fun. The best part was when we wrote round-robin stories by writing one sentence, passing it on to someone else, who wrote one more sentence and then covered the first sentence before passing it on to the next person. Hilarity ensued. This was the story I ended up with, verbatim (spelling/grammar mistakes and all):

"A great Sadness had fallen upon Happy Hill, where the fluffy monkeys dwelled. A fungal skin infection had beset the land, and they were no longer so fluffy. This prompted the pupulons to send forth the 'mother ship,' the last hope for fluff. They spent the last light of day in praying. And awoke the next morning, to a gloriously glowing pumpkin, come to allieviate all their ills. Or so they thought, but none of them had ever read "The Halloween Treo" (neither has the writer, incidentally). Thus they assumed that the monstrosity lurching towards them was similar to the title character. They had no way of knowing it was actually Justin. And so they splashed him with salt water, to see if he would melt. He didn't *gasp* he did! The crowd spontaniously bowed down before him. And he lived happily ever after (except for that one time he tripped and fell into that magic well, but that's another story)."

chisakami  and I went to lunch with carobanano  and friends, had crazy times while eating Indian food (yum). Then wandered over to a used book store/cafe where we browsed and went geeky (in a wonderful way) over books in general. Then Chisakami and I went over to dbdb25  's house for her graduation party (though her parents were ever so kind as to include us in it too :D), where we had MORE yummy Indian food (I pretty much gorged myself on naan....but it's just soooo tasty...)and lovely conversation.

chisakami , dbdb25  and I...THE TRIO OF DOOM RIDES AGAIN!!!!! MUAH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!



And now...I wait for my thesis adviser to get back to me with final revisions, and hopefully a time that I can come in to get signatures...and then I will be DONE!!!!!!!

My parents and I went to see the new Harry Potter movie! :D :D :D :D It was GOOD.
